For desktop machines that are used at workplaces it may indeed be that very few employees bother about DVD burning capability. I have to back everything up, restore, and put everything back on this computer… to prove its broken. I wish I could just unplug it and send it in for them to take a look at, but they say no. Hosting by Gossamer Threads Inc. If i try to burn anything It gives me the burn error that many have been experiencing and I do not know why. I am beginning to think that this piece of hardware has never ever lived up to its specifications.

What about a detailed description of the application used, what you tried to do with it and an exact error message?

This will very nicely test if it is a software or ht-dt-at problem. What exactly does this entail and what will this do?

Could just be a bad burner. Upgrading is what started my dilima to begin with. We are now researching DVD burners so we can spend yet more money to finally be able to do what we had originally purchased our computer setup to do.

A burner just needs to recognize a blank media, especialy dvd, to burn content onto it with the correct writestrategy that is backed up into the firmware.

Mon Aug 23, 4: Sorry Karan, I started the 2nd thread about what happens when you uninstall a device… but it ended up turning into the same topic too. I found, once, upon a fresh restart… it recognized one disc… but then after that, it never recognized another.

Plus some fraction of the DVD burners may even have actually worked If it cannot, then there is no question, the drive is screwy.
